Rockman OnlineFrom The Mega Man Universe
[edit] StoryIn the far future, Mega Man X, Zero and most of the series cast is long gone, along with the threat of the Sigma Virus and, for the most part, the Mavericks. The world was since unified into a global government supported by the United Continent Association, founded by figures of power from various nations. However, the UCA is caught off-guard one day when a new Maverick faction, the Ultimate Reploid Association, formed by legendary Mavericks from the past declares war against the UCA.[1] In response, the UCA produces a new series of Hunters cloned the DNA data of X, Zero and Duo to stop the URA. Complete with the DNA Souls of the originals, the new X Types, Zero Types and Duo Types are sent to action.[2] [edit] DevelopmentCapcom of Japan first unveiled Rockman Online in the first half of 2010, in their Investor Relations report as part of their 2010-2011 plan for the franchise.[3] In fact, Capcom had approved a proposal from NeoWiz for an online Rockman game. They agreed on a South Korean release in late 2011 before they could begin considering other regions.[4] In August 25, 2010, an animated trailer was posted on NeoWiz's official Pmang account on YouTube, focusing on characters from the classic series. In September 29th, NeoWiz opened an official blog where further details about the game surfaced, such as the storyline and characters.[5] In November 9th, a second animated trailer focusing on the X series cast was unveiled, with a surprise encounter between Mega Man and Mega Man X at the end. But the first actual glimpse of the gameplay occurred during the gaming trade show G-Star 2010, which showed the X Types and Zero Types in action. Since then, although more information about the setting surfaced from time to time, news of actual development have been sparse, with a notable absence from G-Star 2011, until release was officially postponed to late 2012.[6] NeoWiz confirmed through Q&A sessions that the cancellation of Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3 in the same year did not affect Rockman Online, and that "various aspects had evolved since the G-Star version".[7] In addition, Sigma was confirmed as the main villain.[8] In February 14th, 2012, the Rockman Online blog celebrated Valentine's Day with a contest for Asian fans to name two new NPCs for the game, with a key to the upcoming beta as a prize. The winning names, Deneb and Phoebe, were submitted by Amunshen. [edit] Notes and Trivia
